Small Animals

Our services for companion animals

Our companion animal services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventative care for healthy pets – early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages, and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. We aim to keep pets healthy and happy. When we do carry out surgery or further treatments, you can trust that your pet will receive excellent care in our state of the art facilities.

We are open or available six days a week  in Maghera, Kilrea and Dungiven. If your pet does have to stay the night with us, we can hospitalise your pet in our own surgery, ensuring continuity of care and familiarity of surroundings for all pets. We never hand over after hours care to another organisation or move your pets to an unfamiliar bed for the night whilst we sleep soundly in ours.

Consults

Our consult times are usually 15 minutes, which means that your beloved pet gets a thorough check up and will also give you plenty of time to ask questions. In case of very sick animals, we will admit and hospitalise the pet immediatly and start investigating without delay.

You do need to make an appointment to see one of our vets, but if you have a genuine emergency, you will be seen at once.

Preventative Procedures

Our preventative services include:

  • Puppy and Kitten Health Checks and 1st Vaccination
  • Annual Health Checks and Vaccination
  • Dental Hygiene
  • Golden Oldies Vet Checks
  • Dietary Advice

Microchipping

As of the 6th of April 2016, it is required by UK law to have your dog microchipped from the age of eight weeks. A microchip is a chip the size of a rice grain, which contains your name and contact information. It is inserted under your pet's skin from where the information can be obtained with a scanner by a vet in case your dog goes missing and is brought in.

Although the law does not encompass cats, we strongly recommend to microchip your feline friend as cats by nature tend to stray and therefore are at bigger risk of getting lost.

The procedure is quick and can be done in a routine consultation. Please contact us for information on prices and to book your appointment.

We have an extensive In-House Lab, an Imaging Room with a Digital X-Ray developer, a powerful Ultrasound machine and an Endoscope. This means that we can investigate into your pet’s health without delay.
